Disability Conditions
It is important to note that not all disabling conditions result in an educational need for special education services. To gain access to special education services, students must be identified as eligible for special education through a referral and evaluation process. Students must have been evaluated in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) of 2004, and meet disability condition criteria in at least one of the following qualifying areas:
- Orthopedic Impairment (OI)
- Other Health Impairment (OHI)
- Auditory Impairment (AI)
- Visual Impairment (VI)
- Deaf Blind
- Intellectual Disability (ID)
- Emotionally Disturbed (ED)
- Learning Disabled (LD)
- Speech Impairment (SI)
- Autism (AU)
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Multiple Disabilities
- Non-Categorical Early Childhood (NCEC)
